can yall believe that the iconic painted lady episode was a fucking filler episode?? it was so good? it’s so incredibly memorable. it’s a fan favorite. the amount of fanart of just that ONE episode? the character development? the best katara quotes like, ever? this episode didn’t progress the plot forward and didn’t introduce any major important characters but it added so much to the story and to the characters (mostly katara) and was fun and didn’t feel like a filler. your favorite show could never

Highlights of the painted lady:

-“oh my brothers a shop keeper, hang on let me go get him” *switches hats* “hey I’m Dock’s brother the shopkeeper how can I help you”

-“woooooooo~ I’m a spirit~~~” “no no no spirit magic sounds like this: *explosion noises*”

-this episode was great for expanding on the fire nation and its culture, and establishing that not everyone in the fire nation is evil

-along with that it also showed how poorly fire nation citizens - mostly those in poverty -were treated during the war by the army that was supposed to be protecting them. It just goes to show that Ozai and the army dont actually care about bringing their people prosperity, they just care about power

-katara invented bi culture and womanhood by dressing up as a water spirit in order to save a town full of people she had never met

-literally though katara is so full of compassion and pure kindness for others and she expects no gratitude in return

-aang chasing down the painted lady

-“hey im the avatar and I’m supposed to talk to spirits so please stop running” *slams into a pole*

-katara putting on a really terrible fake accent to trick him

-“wow you’re really pretty for a spirit” 1) aang doesnt even know its katara and yet he still manages to flirt with her 2) aang just straight up admits that he thinks most spirits are ugly

-“no I think it’s great, you’re like a secret hero”

-katara and aang blowing up a factory like it was the easiest thing ever? Gay culture

-“i will never ever turn my back on people who need me” the most iconic line in the entire series.

-sokka being a good brother and supporting his sister

-the fucking drama of these kids. They don’t just scare the fire nation out of this town, they fucking do it in style, they put on a show. The fog? The ominous music and bellowing? Theatrical

-aang launching katara into the air at the exact moment so she doesnt get burnt by a firebender and she doesn’t even flinch. The level of trust and skill in both of them….

-katara just lifts her hand and everyone flees because shes just that terrifying

-the town finds out that the groups consists of water benders and earth benders and they just? They dont tell anyone?

-aang: “ha! I knew it! You and the shopkeeper really are the same person! I’ve figured out this mystery” he has the biggest dumbass energy

-the actual Painted Lady showing up and thanking katara…her impact….

Feel free to add more cause I’m probably missing something

- the moral of the episode isn’t “don’t commit eco-terrorism” it’s “don’t commit eco-terrorism … without your buddies to back you up!”

Another personal favourite of mine is the part where Katara feeds Appa those berries (I can’t remember the exact name) and…basically yes, the episode was phenomenal and eerie at the same time.

Also the whole environmental message!!! Is there something important this episode didn’t have?!

  • How Toph was always holding on to Aang or Sokka in the background cause they were on a boardwalk and she couldn’t see
  • Appa screaming
  • Aang airbending mud off of him and consequently onto everyone else

How come there’s never enough space in hot topic? Why do I always have to shimmy between a rack of band merch and anime shirts just to get to the back? I’ve never been in a hot topic without having to engage in combat with a tattoo-sleeved 20 yr old just to get past the rhine-stoned backpacks. Is the merchandise just so emo that they can’t contain it all?

I like how they’ve improved miku’s outfit design in every successive update yet all of us consistently choose to ignore this fact in favor of drawing more Grey Shirt Cone Sleeved mikus

Crypton: please,,,, we’ve given you a better designed, better illustrated, objectively sleeker miku, see?

Intimacy is beyond kisses and cuddles and sex. Intimacy is getting a headache and taking a nap, and waking up to your laundry folded and your partner rubbing your back. Intimacy is crying and yelling at night about your past to someone who listens and comforts you. Intimacy is watching shows in your pjs for hours and eating pizza together and being able to communicate love through holding hands. It’s never running out of conversation but doing it anyways to enjoy silence.

Intimacy and passion are two different things

Me, a 12 year old child reading “A Series of Unfortunate Events” 14 years ago: What a fascinating but terribly upsetting journey these kids are on! I’m sure they can handle it though, Violet is 15 and therefor very Old and Mature. She got this.
